Blog Search - A Light in the Darkness

As a writer I take inspiration from all sorts of places.  The blogs of other writers have got me through writer's block a few times and I still look for interesting blogs that make me think.  Just this week I came across a new blog that has given me food for thought and I wanted to share this with you.

This particular blog is written by Thomas Courtney who runs a Dungeons and Dragons group in San Diego.  Thomas creates original content based on the table game that his group plays, it seems like a very natural and organic way to develop a story which I find very intriguing.

ALIND is the story of a unique fantasy world where the magicked, divine and otherworldly aspects to the fantasy genre are in a way, explained through reality and history. It composes six different stories which you can read about in four acts apiece.

If you want to check it out - and I highly suggest you do especially if Fantasy/Adventure is your preference - you can find the blog at A Light in the Darkness.  I suggest you read the 'About ALIND' page here which tells you the sequence of the stories and the best way to read through them.

Let me know your blog addresses in the comments below and I will do what I can to feature them here at A Writer's Tale.

NaNo Prep 2018 Begins

So if you don't know about NaNoWriMo and you want to be a writer you have to check it out.  It is an annual, community writing event where writers of all levels come together to challenge themselves to achieve a predetermined word count between 1 - 30 November.  Every year this begins in September with NaNo Prep, the organisers of NaNoWriMo provide us with a lot of writing resources and challenges on the run up to November so that when we hit Day 1 of the challenge we should have a plot ready to go and can focus on writing every day to hit our word count. Make sure you check it out here:  https://www.nanowrimo.org One thing I must say; don't be disheartened if you don't hit your word count.  NaNo is a difficult challenge, especially if you haven't attempted it before - I myself have failed to hit my word count on a few attempts.  Regardless of your word count you should end the month with something that you can work with, whether that is four chapters or fourteen cha
